Artificial Intelligence

17th May 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Many researchers now seriously consider the possibility that computers will show intelligence equal to our own within a few decades – with profound implications for us all. How will we communicate with them, and they with us? Will they achieve human-like sentience and affective states as well as human-like cleverness? Will natural and artificial intelligence come to co-operate smoothly or are we heading for uneasy coexistence? The CETC seminar brings together experts in machine learning and emerging AI applications for a glimpse of the no longer so distant future.

Confirmed speakers:

Rupert Thomas, TTP

'Affective computing: measuring emotional state.’'

Rupert is a data scientist and software engineer with a background in machine learning, analytics and numerical modelling. He completed a PhD at Southampton University where he looking at the intersection between cell biology and electronics.
