About the CETC

The Cambridge Enterprise & Technology Club provides a networking forum for business people, academics, technologists and service providers, together with a unique opportunity to learn about cutting edge technologies.

History

The Club was founded in 1992 – under its original name of the Cambridge Europe & Technology Club – as part of the (then) Department of Trade & Industry’s initiative to improve the UK’s business, exporting and technical skills. Almost 30 years on, it carries on this legacy while scaling up to a broader knowledge share mission with a focus on new technologies and their applications.

The Club also remains true to its roots as a not-for-profit organisation in retaining a strong volunteer ethos, with all events organised and managed by a volunteer committee elected by and from among the Club's membership.

What do we do?

We hold seminar meetings on a range of topics, with an emphasis on subjects relevant to local businesses. We usually invite several expert speakers to make presentations at each seminar, so that a given topic may be discussed from different and complementary perspectives.

Many of our members have experience in companies that have grown rapidly by developing new products and by expanding into new markets, so there is plenty of knowledge to share.

Talks at varying Cambridge venues are held in two terms of three events each, usually on the third Thursday of the month (September-November; February-April), with the programme year culminating in the annual Garden Party.

Whom are our talks for?

A notable feature of the CETC's seminars is that all our talks by experts in a given field are designed to appeal to technologically and scientifically interested non-experts, as well as illustrating the latest market-relevant developments for attendees from the same or related sectors.  If you are A Life Scientist curious about cybersecurity or a financial expert curious about plant science the CETC is for you, as well as for the established expert coming to find out about the very latest discoveries or market trends in their own field.

Although the Club has a formal structure and programme of events, we strive for an informal atmosphere that allows members and guests to meet and talk with one another, be it during Question & Answer sessions after formal talks, during networking at our events or at the annual Garden Party
